For trips from Sopron to Austria, we offer tickets much cheaper than international fares, at Austrian domestic prices.
In addition, the tariffs of the transport association Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR) apply in Eastern Austria, which grant a further reduction of up to 5-10%.

Our trains run directly from Sopron to Vienna, Wiener Neustadt and Deutschkreutz. Eisenstadt can be reached from Sopron in just 25 minutes, and you can change trains every hour in Wulkaprodersdorf.

Terms of use
With a VOR ticket to Vienna, you can also use public transport (tram, bus, subway, S-Bahn and the buses from Postbus and Dr. Richard) for 1 hour from arrival for the outward journey. The ticket to the outskirts of Vienna costs EUR 17,90 for adults and EUR 9,00 for children, but a ticket for Zone 100 of Vienna is also required for travel.
Children aged 6 to 15 travel at a reduced price. The reduced price also applies to dogs. Children under the age of 6, when accompanied by an adult, travel free.
The VOR ticket is valid for the trains resp. buses of the participating transport companies ÖBB, Raaberbahn AG in Austria, Wiener Lokalbahnen and Wiener Linien, for 2nd class, for a single journey. A day ticket can be purchased for outward and return journeys. The price of a day ticket is roughly double that of a one-way trip. For detailed fares, please visit the VOR website. VOR tickets are not valid on the trains of WestBahn.
A VOR ticket can be bought 1 hour before the train departs at the latest. The ticket is only available for purchase in the international ticket office at Sopron railway station. Outside the opening times of the ticket office, the ticket can be bought on board the train. Payment on the train is only possible in euro.

VOR tickets are available for purchase in the international ticket office of GYSEV at Sopron railway station, during the opening hours of the ticket office. The tickets can also be bought from vending machines on board certain ÖBB trains.

Vorteilscard
Do you often travel in Austria?
Then opt for a Vorteilscard and travel at discounted prices throughout Austria.
With a Vorteilscard, you can travel up to 45-50% cheaper throughout Austria.
The card is available to everyone, it can be bought in the international ticket office of GYSEV in Sopron or at any ÖBB railway station. The price of the card depends on the age of the applicant. The Vorteilscard is personal and non-transferable.
In Austria, cardholders pay 45-50% less than the published fares on presentation of the card.

From Fertőszentmiklós to Austria with a discount EURegio Special ticket
Get to know the treasures of Lake Neusiedl and enjoy the freedom of cycling! Travel with regional trains along the lake or visit Vienna with the Neusiedler Seebahn.
From Fertőszentmiklós, the train leaves with a change in Pamhagen to Neusiedl am See or Vienna. Some trains run directly to Vienna in the morning and come back in the afternoon to Fertőszentmiklós.
The schedule of the trains is in line with Austrian working hours; therefore, please enquire about the current timetable from the international timetable extracts.
Hungarian fares apply between Fertőszentmiklós and Pamhagen, so Hungarian railroad discounts are also available for this section.
Fertőszentmiklós - Pamhagen: 450 HUF / full-price ticket for one way, bike ticket: 500 HUF / bike.
The ticket can be bought in all Hungarian ticket offices.
With departure from Fertőszentmiklós, we recommend the EURegio Special return ticket, with which - depending on the respective capacity - the transport of bicycles is free.

Terms of use
The EURegio Special return ticket is valid for 4 days. The ticket can also be bought in advance.
The EURegio Special Return Ticket is valid for the trains marked with ER in the timetable as well as for long-distance and passenger trains with a four-digit identification number, in 2nd class. The ticket cannot be used on other trains of higher categories (IC, EC, EN, RJ). Trains with a 4-digit train number that starts with 9 and is marked in bold in the timetable are not considered long-distance trains, so EURegio tickets can be used for these trains. The ticket is valid from/to every railway station in Vienna, for rail and S-Bahn.
The EURegio Special fares are fixed prices, of which no additional discount is granted with the exception of children and dogs. A EURegio ticket cannot be issued in Hungary with departure in Austria, it can only be sold with departure in Hungary. The EURegio Special return tickets cannot be bought on board the trains in Hungary.
Children discounts
When the ticket is issued in Hungary: from 6 years to under 14 years of age, for the entire route.
When the ticket is issued in Austria: from 6 years to under 15 years of age, for the entire route.
Points of sale
EURegio Special return tickets without urban traffic can be purchased at all sale points authorized to issue international tickets.
There is a limited number of EURegio tickets available for purchase at Sopron and Szombathely railway stations. Tickets for the Szombathely – Vienna, Szombathely – Wiener Neustadt and Győr – Wiener Neustadt sections are not issued in Sopron.
Euregio Special Tickets are sold at Körmend, Szentgotthárd, Kapuvár, Csorna, Bük, Vasvár, Kőszeg, Répcelak and Fertőszentmiklós stations.

Terms of use
The EURegio Special return ticket is valid for 2 days. The ticket can also be purchased in advance and is only valid in 2nd class on express and passenger trains as well as on R and REX trains in Austria. The ticket is not valid for trains of higher categories (IC, EC, EN, RJ)!
The ticket is valid from any train station to/from Vienna and Graz. Between Szombathely and Vienna, the journey is also possible through Ebenfurth and Wiener Neustadt.
Discounted price
EURegio Special fares are fixed prices from which no further discount is possible, except for children and dogs. A EURegio ticket with departure in Austria cannot be issued in Hungary; tickets issued in Hungary are only issued with departure in Hungary.
In Hungary, the EURegio Special return ticket cannot be purchased on the train.
Children’s discount:
- If the ticket is issued in Hungary: from 6 years to under 14 years, for the entire route.
- If the ticket is issued in Austria: from 6 years to under 15 years, for the entire route.
Sales points
- EURegio Special return tickets can be purchased at any ticket office authorized to issue international tickets.
- At Sopron station, EURegio weekly tickets and EURegio Special tickets are available with certain limitations:
- In Sopron, no EURegio Special ticket can be purchased for the connections Szombathely–Vienna, Szombathely–Wiener Neustadt and Győr–Wiener Neustadt.
- Euregio Special Tickets can be purchased at the following stations: Körmend, Szentgotthárd, Kapuvár, Csorna, Bük, Vasvár, Kőszeg, Répcelak and Fertőszentmiklós.

A further reduction on the fare is not possible. The regional ticket can only be purchased at the stations along the route or on board the train (if it is not possible to purchase a ticket at the departure station).

The VOR monthly pass (Monatskarte) is valid for one calendar month, from midnight on the first day of the month to midnight on the 2nd day of the following month.
Combined weekly and monthly tickets for use in urban transport in Vienna are valid on all public transport in Vienna (tram, bus, underground, S-Bahn, Postbus and Dr. Richard).
The VOR weekly and monthly ticket is valid for 2nd class trains and buses of the participating transport companies ÖBB Austrian State Railways, Raaberbahn AG in Austria, Wiener Lokalbahnen and Wiener Linien. VOR tickets are not accepted at WestBahn!

Student monthly tickets
For students studying at Austrian higher education institutions who regularly travel from Sopron to Eastern Austria, the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Österreich (VOR) offers discounted monthly tickets (VOR-Hochschüler-Monatskarte).
The prices are calculated based on the travel distance.
Terms of use
The VOR student ticket (VOR Hochschüler) is valid for one calendar month, from midnight on the 1st day of the given month to midnight on the 2nd day of the following month and entitles you to unrestricted travel in the given travel relationship.
The VOR monthly student card is valid up to the age of 26, only in conjunction with an ÖBB-VORTEILScard (for young people under 26 years of age).
The VOR monthly student tickets are valid for 2nd class on the trains of the participating transport companies ÖBB, Raaberbahn and Wiener Lokalbahn.
* A valid weekly or monthly pass or a semester pass is required to use public transport in Vienna.

Interrail
This season ticket is valid in numerous European countries.
With an Interrail card, you can travel unlimited on the state railways of the participating countries, as well as on certain private railways in the selected class, during the period of validity or on the selected days. With certain private railways, the ticket offers tickets at half price.
You can receive further discounts by purchasing an Interrail ticket:

To purchase the ticket, the following information must be provided: name, date of birth, address, start of validity, payment method. A photo of the ticket holder is also required.
The ticket price can be paid in one amount or in monthly installments. When paying in installments, the price for the first 2 months must be paid on site at the same time as purchasing the ticket, after which the installments due from the 3rd month onwards will be automatically debited from the specified bank account. (In the case of a Hungarian bank account, it is advisable to arrange the possibility of automatic currency deduction with the bank holding the account before purchasing the ticket.)
Loss of the ticket
If the Climate Ticket (plastic card) is lost or stolen, it must be reported immediately to the responsible authority and in person at a service center or by telephone on 0800 24 00 50 or using the relevant contact form at www.klimaticket.at/kontakt.
Termination
During the period of validity, the ticket may be terminated in writing from the 7th month of validity without giving reasons upon presentation of the completed and signed termination form and return of the ticket to a service center. In the event of termination, a termination fee of one month’s amount will be charged.
An extraordinary right of termination exists:
- In the event of a move from Austria to a foreign country, by proof of the new address abroad
- In the case of a disease over a period of three months or more, by means of medical attestation
- In the event of unemployment, by presenting official confirmation of the unemployed status
- In the event of death
In the event of extraordinary termination, the termination fee does not apply.

Acceptance of euro in the GYSEV international ticket offices and on certain trains
Tickets payable in euro
International tickets and surcharges for international journeys involving two or more countries or a domestic section of a foreign railroad can also be paid for in euros at the international ticket offices (Sopron, Szombathely).
Paying in Euro
Dear Passenger! Please note that from January 1, 2025, we will only accept euro banknotes (no euro coins) for cash payments. The change is paid out in forints based on the current exchange rate.
At the ticket counter
Banknotes accepted: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 €
Coins accepted: 1 and 2 €
A € 50 banknote is accepted for at least € 25.1, a € 100 banknote for at least € 50.1 and a € 200 banknote for at least € 100.1.
It is also possible to pay the fare partly in euros and partly in forints.
The change is paid out in forints based on the current exchange rate.
On board the train
Banknotes accepted: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 €
Coins accepted: 1 and 2 €
A € 50 banknote is accepted for at least € 25.1. A 100 € banknote is only acceptable if several passengers want to pay together and the amount to be paid exceeds € 50.1.
