Transport conditions, fares

Please note that the capacity of our vehicles for transporting bicycles is limited. To guarantee you a quality service, please inform us therefore in advance if you wish to take a bicycle with you.

Bicycles with a wheel diameter of up to 16", folded bicycles with a wheel diameter of between 16" and 20" as well as bicycles originally manufactured as unicycles (unicycle and monocycle) can be packed and taken along without paying a fare for the bike.

When taking bicycles with you, a fare per bicycle is charged. Bicycle tickets with a fixed price for one way and a specific connection are valid in the connection indicated on the ticket from the date of purchase or the date requested by the passenger until +11:59 p.m. (regardless of the distance travelled).

The bike ticket can also be purchased in advance, according to the general rules of ticket purchase.

State bike ticket

The state bike ticket is available to everyone and is valid without restrictions for intercity transport within Hungary for the transport of 1 bicycle on the train.

Validity

The state bike ticket is a personal travel authorization and can therefore only be used for travel with the ID card shown on it.

The state bike ticket is valid until 11:59 p.m. on the day before the month following the first day of validity.

Passengers with a state bike ticket can transport 1 bicycle in intercity transport, between municipalities in Hungary, on MÁV-START and GYSEV trains, and on MÁV-HÉV trains without a separate bike ticket, in accordance with the transport conditions of the respective transport companies.

Sales

State bike tickets are available for purchase from MÁV-START as well as from GYSEV and VOLÁNBUSZ. The respective companies provide information about the terms of use of the product.

If the passenger would like to transport his bicycle on a train with mandatory space reservations for bicycles, he/she must also purchase a space reservation for the bike in addition to the bike ticket/ state bike ticket.

Prices of bike tickets:

Bike ticket irrespective of km-distance: 500 HUF

Discounted bike ticket irrespective of km-distance: 375 HUF

State bike ticket: 4 950 HUF

Prices of space reservation for bicycles:

Space reservation (as announced)                                                   100 HUF

Space reservation (as announced)                                                   650 HUF

Space reservation (as announced)                                                   990 HUF

If a group trip is announced in advance, GYSEV Zrt. will provide a special train for bicycle transport depending on the respective operating conditions.

Bike transportation

FLIRT3 multiple unit

4 bicycles can be carried on the train. The bicycle must be stored in the designated place of the low-floor vehicle, next to the folding seats.

FLIRT multiple unit

4 bicycles can be carried on the train. The bicycle must be stored in the designated place of the low-floor vehicle, next to the folding seats.

Jenbacher multiple unit

4 bicycles per car be transported on the train. In the Jenbacher diesel multiple units, bikes must be parked in the designated space of the anteroom, next to the folding seats.

Please note that bicycle transport is subject to availability of space.

GYSEV offers convenient and safe parking of you bicycle at numerous railway stations and thus contributes to sustainable transport by facilitating the combination of bike and rail.
